Overview

Understanding the requirement of FSSAI

It is mandatory to acquire food license to start any food related business. There are three type of food licenses applicable for Businesses.

  • Basic license will be applicable for businesses with the turnover less than 12 lacs.
  • State license will be applicable who are having their turnover between 12 lacs to 20 crores. In case of repacking, relabeling business, the business should obtain a state license irrespective of their turnover.
  • Central license will be applicable who are having their turnover more than 20 crores.

    • A business can apply for a fixed period of time say 1 year, 2 years, 3 years and 5 years and they have to renew the license after the expiry of that fixed period of time.

Any business that comes under the following category should obtain the FSSAI license under FSSAI Act, 2006:
